Paramahamsa Vishwananda
It’s the world’s biggest festival. It’s so huge, that it‘s even visible from space — a gathering of over a 100 million people becoming a single mass: the Kumbh Mela.

The Kumbh Mela is not just about religion, mantras, sadhus, spiritual baths in sacred a river, which supposedly washes away sins to give you a fresh start. To a few it might almost seem like a holy water amusement park with loud music, street dances, endless array of colors, and mouthwatering food. It in fact is a mela after all.

Join Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananada as we participate in one of the biggest spiritual events on the planet – the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar 2021. It is a historic event for Paramahamsa Vishwananda as for the first time He will be riding His own chariot as a Mahamandleshwar and we will be having our own camp-site just inside the Kumbh.

About

Kumbh Mela

Kumbh Mela draws spiritual seekers from all walks of life as well as many true saints from around India who come down from the mountains, the valleys and places of seclusion to be present for the most auspicious time in the most auspicious place.

According to the scriptures, when Gods and demons churned the ocean to obtain the divine nectar of immortality, amrit, four drops of it fell in four places on earth – Nashik, Prayag (Allahabad), Haridwar and Ujjain. Therefore, the festival is held only in those 4 cities.

This festival in Haridwar is considered one of the holiest places for Hindus in India. It is significant that pilgrims often go from Haridwar to the two great Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath, as Har means Shiva (the deity of Kedarnath), Hari means Vishnu (the deity of Badrinath), and Dwar means gate. Haridwar is therefore the gateway to the two holy shrines of Shiva and Vishnu. The town has also been called Gangadvar, meaning ‘Door of the Ganga’ because at this place the sacred river Ganges leaves the mountains to flow out upon the Indian plains.
