Journey to Puri

Home of Lord Jaganath

Puri, on the sunny East coast of India, is the abode of Lord Jagannath, as well as the place, where Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, along with His saintly associates and other great incarnations, had spent a big part of His life, inspiring others to chant the Divine name. Many famous and less known saints have chosen this sacred place as their sanctuary, including Sri Yukteshwar Giri, a kriya yoga master, who had opened here his first ashram. Deities in many temples in Puri are self-manifested and often have a heart-touching story.
The temple of Lord Jagannath himself is a miraculous place, where flags are always floating opposite to the wind and temple casts no shadow. There are many miracles happening daily also in the temple kitchen, where huge amounts of various types of food are cooked for the Lord. Even though non-Indian devotees are not allowed into the temple of Lord Jagannath, the Lord Himself goes out of the temple each year, during Ratha Yatra, or chariot festival, to see all of His devotees and give them His unique darshan.
